A Day at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre with the Sickle Cell & Thalassaemia Support Project

Updated: Sep 8, 2023

On Tuesday 29th August 2023, a handful of the young people we support and some of their parents had an unforgettable visit to Wolverhampton Grand Theatre. This event brought joy and provided opportunities that these children might not otherwise have had.

The event was designed to cater for children of all ages and ensure that every attendee had an enjoyable and enriching experience.

Theatre Tour for Older Children

For the older children in the group and some parents, they got to experience an immersive theatre tour. Led by experienced guides, they explored the rich history of the Grand Theatre, from its architectural marvels to the backstage secrets. This tour opened their eyes to the world of theatre, for some, it may have been the first step towards a lifelong love of performing arts.

Interactive Storytelling for Younger Children

The younger children embarked on a thrilling journey of their own. They participated in an interactive storytelling session that captivated their imaginations. The power of storytelling ignites creativity, builds language skills and fosters a love for reading and learning.

Cash For Kids: A Heartfelt Gesture

Receiving Cash For Kids Gift Vouchers

One of the highlights of this day was the generosity of Cash For Kids. Thanks to them, young people who attended the event were given gift vouchers, allowing them to do something or buy something they wouldn't usually have the opportunity to do. This simple, yet profound gesture not only brought smiles to their faces but also empowered them to explore new interests, hobbies or experiences.

A massive thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund, Wolverhampton Grand Theatre and Cash For Kids for making this event possible.
