Here at the Sickle Cell & Thalassaemia Support Project, we are dedicated to empowering individuals affected by Sickle cell and Thalassaemia blood disorders. We were thrilled to host Collins Aerospace STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Opportunities Event on Monday 12th February 2024 at Graiseley Family Hub.
This event featured a fantastic line-up of speakers from Collins Aerospace, who shared their personal journeys that led them to their current roles within the company. What made their stories particularly inspiring is that many of them began their careers through apprenticeships, showcasing the diverse pathways available within STEM fields.
The aim of this event was to introduce young people aged 12 to 16 affected by Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia blood disorders to apprenticeship and work experience opportunities in STEM. We believe making them aware of these possibilities at an early age can broaden their horizons and give them valuable insights into the various career paths available.
We would like to thank Collins Aerospace for their contribution to this event. Their willingness to share experiences and expertise played a pivotal role in the events success.
