Fundraising: Virtual Reality Support

Children living with Sickle cell disease and Thalassaemia may experience mental health and wellbeing problems which require early recognition and intervention.

Some common causes of distress may include:

  • Frequent hospitalisations

  • Missing school and work

  • Learning difficulties

  • Social isolation

  • Family stress as it can affect the entire family

Young people and children can experience several episodes of missing school due to their condition and therefore may not always achieve the grades they require to progress in their chosen fields- whether that is further education, apprenticeships or employment.

This information has led us to

want to support our children with

Sickle cell and Thalassaemia with advice around stress management, anxiety, emotions and confidence in a fun and interactive way.

Use of Virtual Reality headsets is an excellent way to enhance their learning and support them to manage their emotional wellbeing. We feel young people would be more open to information if we used this platform.

We would like your support in raising £2000 to purchase Virtual Reality headsets and materials.

Thank you for taking an interest in our Virtual Reality headsets fundraiser.
