SCTSP Commonwealth Games

Updated: Apr 26, 2023

On Wednesday 31st August 2022, many of our service users participated in our

SCTSP Commonwealth Games. These games were for the young people in Walsall and Wolverhampton affected by sickle cell and thalassaemia blood disorders.

This event was facilitated by Sports Coach Felix. He made all young people feel welcome and comfortable immediately, also encouraging them to get to know each other. He introduced a variety of invasion games that were enjoyed by service users of all ages and finished the workshop with a game of football.

After all previous workshops, we've gotten feedback on what activities they'd like to participate in in the future. Outdoor sports has always been highly popular!

We received great feedback from this event, our service users loved it and have requested similar sporting events in the future.

We asked a few young people what they enjoyed most about the workshop;

"Making friends"

"l enjoyed playing football... making new tactics to score goals having fun and make new friends"

"Enjoyed playing football games"

Thank you to Sporting Khalsa Community Club who kindly let us use their venue and equipment. It was a lovely and welcoming venue and we look forward to working with you again.

This event was made possible thanks to the Grantham Yorke Truste.
